Subject: Reasoning Behind Definition Project

I chose the to define the term 'HTML' due to its importance in the field of Visual Communications and also because of my interest in web design. I used the expansion techniques of graphics, examples, partitions, and principle of operation to revise a definition for a layperson. I decided to use an actual website to help expand the term HTML for my defined audience. My general audience is that of a college class of Visual Communication students. I felt that the dictionary and technical reference book definitions I found online to be very accurate and useful for a layperson. The only thing I noticed lacking were graphics to show examples of HTML code, tags, and a web browser.
